In a beautiful green forest, there was a slow but happy tortoise. He loved taking long, peaceful walks. One sunny day, while he was walking, a fast hare zoomed past him. The hare was very quick and liked to show off.
“Move, slow tortoise! You’re too slow!” laughed the hare.
The tortoise, not bothered by the hare’s words, had a clever idea. “Let’s race,” he said to the hare. “I bet I can beat you!”
The hare thought this was very funny. “Beat me? No way! I’m the fastest!” he said, laughing.
Soon, many animals in the forest, like foxes, hedgehogs, badgers, and bears, heard about the race. They all came to see. Some thought the hare would win because he was so fast. Others hoped the tortoise would win because he was so kind.
Then, an eagle flew down. “Let’s start the race!” said the eagle.
So, the hare and the tortoise lined up. “Ready, set, go!” shouted the eagle.
The hare ran very fast, far ahead of the tortoise. After a while, the hare looked back and thought, “I’m so far ahead, I can take a little nap.” So, he lay down and fell asleep.
The tortoise kept walking, slow and steady, without stopping. He walked past the sleeping hare.
After some time, the hare woke up. He saw that the tortoise was close to the finish line! The hare ran as fast as he could, but it was too late. The tortoise crossed the finish line first!
All the animals cheered for the tortoise. “Hooray for the tortoise!” they shouted.
The hare felt sad because he didn’t win. But he learned something important. It doesn’t matter how fast you are; what really matters is to keep going and not give up.
The tortoise smiled and said, “Slow and steady wins the race!”
And all the animals in the forest learned that being patient and not giving up is very important. They all celebrated together, cheering and laughing.
