The Lion and the Mouse

Written by:

Once upon a time, in a vast and lively jungle, there lived a mighty lion who loved to nap in his cozy cave. One scorching day, while the lion was deep in slumber, a tiny mouse scurried over his paw by accident. Startled, the lion woke up with a fearsome roar, capturing the frightened mouse in his mighty paw.

“I’m going to eat you!” bellowed the lion, his voice echoing through the cave.

“Squeak, squeak! Please, Mr. Lion, spare me! One day, I might be able to help you,” pleaded the little mouse, trembling with fear.

The lion laughed heartily at the thought of such a tiny creature helping him, the King of the Jungle. However, feeling generous and not particularly hungry, he released the mouse, who scampered away as fast as its little legs could carry it.

Days passed, and the lion, feeling mischievous, decided to roam the jungle, startling his animal friends with his mighty roars. Elephants trumpeted, giraffes galloped, and snakes slithered away in fear of their powerful ruler.

But the lion’s adventures took an unexpected turn when he found himself caught in a hunter’s trap. Trapped and helpless, he called out to his jungle friends for help. Elephants, giraffes, snakes, and even owls came to see him but, remembering how he had scared them, they all refused to help and left him alone.

As night fell, the lion began to cry, fearing he would never return to his beloved cave. That’s when he heard a familiar tiny squeak.

“Squeak, squeak! Why are you crying, Mr. Lion?” asked the mouse, emerging from the shadows.

“I’m stuck in this trap and no one will help me,” the lion replied sadly.

Without hesitation, the mouse began to gnaw at the ropes of the trap with its tiny, sharp teeth. After much effort, the lion was finally free!

“I’m free! Thank you, little mouse! I never thought someone as small as you could help a big lion like me,” said the lion gratefully.

From that day forward, the lion and the mouse became the best of friends. And the lion learned an important lesson: that no matter how small someone may seem, they can still be of great help. And so, the animals in the jungle often heard the lion saying, “Bigger is not always better!” as he proudly walked beside his tiny, brave friend, the mouse.
