The Crow and the Pitcher

One bright and beautiful morning, a crow woke up, feeling a rumble in his stomach. He was very hungry. Eager to find something to eat, the crow set off on his quest for breakfast. The crow soon spotted some juicy flies and gobbled them up. “That was delicious, but now I’m really thirsty,” the crow said, licking his beak.

Flying around in search of water, the crow’s eyes gleamed when he saw a pitcher. “At last, I found some water.

The crow tried to drink from the pitcher, but alas, his beak was too big to reach the water. “Ouch, my poor beak. I’m so thirsty. What will I do now?” he lamented.

Before long, a group of bees buzzed by. “What’s the matter, Crow?” they asked. After hearing the crow’s plight, they suggested, “Why don’t you tip the pitcher over and pour it out?”

The crow shook his head. “That won’t work because the water will spill everywhere.”

Feeling dejected, the crow sat by the pitcher. Then, some ladybirds wandered by, offering a new idea. “Why don’t you break the pitcher with one of these stones?” they suggested, handing him some stones.

But the crow was not convinced. “That won’t work either because the water will spill everywhere.”

Just then, a group of butterflies fluttered by. Seeing the crow’s distress, they asked, “What’s the matter, Crow?” Upon hearing his problem, they offered a brilliant solution. “Why don’t you put these stones into the pitcher? The water level will rise, and then you can drink it.”

“What a good idea,” exclaimed the crow, his spirits lifting. He began dropping stones into the pitcher, and the butterflies helped him.

Eventually, the water rose to the top. “Now, I can reach the water,” the crow cheered joyfully.

The crow drank to his heart’s content, quenching his thirst. Then, feeling refreshed and grateful, he flew off to enjoy the rest of his beautiful day.

The crow soared high in the sky, “The moral of the story is… where there is a will, there is a way.” The crow’s determination and the helpful advice of his new friends had led him to find a clever solution to his problem.
