The Story of there was an Old Woman who Swallowed a Fly

Written by:

Once upon a time, in a cozy little village, there was an Old Woman who did something quite silly. One sunny day, while sitting on her porch, she accidentally swallowed a tiny fly. “Oh dear,” she exclaimed, “I don’t know why I swallowed that fly!”

Wanting to catch the fly inside her, she then swallowed a wriggly spider, thinking it would catch the fly. But oh! That made her tummy feel all funny.

Not knowing what to do, the Old Woman then swallowed a bird. “How absurd, to swallow a bird!” she thought, hoping the bird would catch the spider. But still, her tummy rumbled.

Feeling more puzzled, she then swallowed a cat, thinking, “Fancy that! Swallowing a cat!” She hoped the cat would catch the bird, but her plan was not working out as she thought.

Feeling quite desperate, she then swallowed a dog. “What a hog, to swallow a dog!” she chuckled nervously, hoping the dog would catch the cat. But, alas, her tummy troubles continued.

Thinking bigger might be better, she then swallowed a cow, which was quite the feat! “I don’t know how I swallowed a cow,” she wondered, feeling more uncomfortable by the minute.

And then, in a moment of utter silliness, she swallowed a horse. “I’ve swallowed a horse!” she gasped, finally realizing the silliness of her actions.

Just then, Farmer Joe came by, hearing all the commotion. “Old Woman, what have you done?” he exclaimed in surprise. “You can’t just swallow all these animals!”

The Old Woman, now feeling quite ill from her peculiar feast, nodded in agreement. “I’ve learned my lesson,” she said with a sigh. “No more swallowing animals for me.”

With Farmer Joe’s help, she found a kind doctor who helped her feel better. And from that day on, the Old Woman stuck to eating regular food, leaving the flies, spiders, birds, cats, dogs, cows, and horses to live happily in the village.

And so, the Old Woman learned a very important lesson: it’s always best to eat food that’s meant for people, not to swallow animals in a silly spree. With a chuckle and a smile, she’d tell her tale to anyone who’d listen, reminding them of the day she had an adventure inside her very own kitchen.
