Echo and Narcissus

In a magical forest in ancient Greece, there lived a talkative nymph named Echo. She loved to chat so much that she often interrupted everyone, including the powerful goddess Hera. Annoyed, Hera cast a spell on Echo, making her only able to repeat the last words said to her, teaching her to listen better.

One day, Echo saw a handsome young man named Narcissus wandering through the forest and instantly fell in love with him. But because of Hera’s spell, she couldn’t tell him how she felt. All she could do was echo his words.

Narcissus, not noticing Echo, found a clear pool of water. When he looked in, he saw his reflection and fell in love with it, thinking it was someone else. “You are so handsome. I love you,” he said. Echo, hidden nearby, repeated his words, hoping to express her feelings.

Trying to embrace the beautiful image in the water, Narcissus fell in and disappeared. Heartbroken, Echo echoed, “Don’t leave me,” but it was too late. She roamed the forest alone until only her voice remained, still echoing the words of others.

And Narcissus? He turned into a beautiful flower that still looks into the water, forever admiring its own reflection. That flower is called the Narcissus, a reminder of the young man who loved himself too much. Echo’s voice lives on, a reminder to listen and care for others’ words.
