Once upon a time in a dense jungle, a clever hunter had caught a lion. Deciding to take a nap, he left the lion’s skin to dry, resting under a nearby tree.
While the hunter slept, a curious Ass strolled by. Spotting the lion’s skin on the ground, he pondered, “What’s this? A lion’s skin! The hunter must have left it here. What if I put it on?” And with that, the Ass draped the lion’s skin over himself, transforming into a ‘lion’ and trotting off into the jungle.
As the Ass walked, he encountered two Elephants. He roared loudly, mixing his bray with his roar. The Elephants were startled. “Who’s making that noise?” they wondered. Convinced it was a fearsome lion, they ran away in fear.
Next, the Ass met two Monkeys. Again, he roared and brayed. The Monkeys, terrified, scurried away. “It’s the scary lion!” they cried as they fled.

The Ass continued his journey, meeting two Zebras and then two Deer, each time scaring them off with his disguised roar. “Ha, ha! I’ve fooled them all!” he laughed. “They think I’m a real lion!”

But his triumph was short-lived. A clever Fox came along, and the Ass tried to scare him too. However, the Fox, upon hearing the peculiar roar, grew suspicious. “Something’s not right here,” thought the Fox. He approached the ‘lion’ and quickly uncovered the disguise, revealing the Ass underneath.

“Bray, bray! What are you doing, Fox? I’m the scary lion,” protested the Ass.
“No, you’re not. You’re just an Ass. I’d recognize that voice anywhere,” said the Fox, not fooled by the disguise.
Just then, the hunter woke up and saw the Ass with his lion’s skin. “Who has stolen my lion’s skin?” he shouted. Realizing his game was up, the Ass dropped the skin and dashed away as fast as he could.
The moral of the story, dear children, is that false appearances can’t hide the truth forever. False people will always give themselves away.
