Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Written by:

Once upon a time, in a cozy little house deep in the woods, lived three bears: Daddy Bear, Mummy Bear, and Baby Bear. One sunny morning, Daddy Bear exclaimed, “What a lovely sunny day it is today. Let’s all go for a walk in the woods.”

But Baby Bear was concerned. “I’m hungry. I want to eat my porridge,” he said.

“Don’t worry,” Mummy Bear reassured him. “The porridge is still hot; it will be cool enough by the time we come back from our walk.”

So, off they went, leaving their home open.

Meanwhile, a little girl named Goldilocks was wandering through the woods, picking flowers for her grandma. When she came upon the bear’s house, curiosity overcame her. “Oh, what a pretty little house,” she marveled. “I wonder if anyone’s home?” Finding no answer to her knock, she pushed the door open and peered inside.

The sight of three bowls of porridge on the table caught her eye. She tasted the first bowl and exclaimed, “Yuck! This is too salty!” The second bowl prompted a similar reaction, “Yuck! This is too sugary!” But the third bowl was just right, and she ate it all up, sighing with satisfaction, “Mmmmmm, that was just right.”

Next, Goldilocks noticed three chairs. She tried the first chair and complained, “This chair is too hard.” The second was no better; “This chair is too soft,” she whined. But the third chair felt just right, at least until it broke under her. “Oh dear,” she gasped, “I’ve broken the chair!”

Feeling tired, Goldilocks went upstairs and found three beds. She tested each one, exclaiming, “This bed is too hard!” and “This bed is too soft!” before finding the third bed just right. She snuggled down, murmuring, “This bed is just right,” and soon fell fast asleep.

When the three bears returned, they immediately noticed something amiss. “Who has been eating my porridge?” Daddy Bear bellowed. “And mine?” Mummy Bear added. “Mine is all gone!” cried Baby Bear.

Their discovery continued. “Who has been sitting on my chair?” Daddy Bear roared. “And mine?” echoed Mummy Bear. Baby Bear found his chair broken and wailed, “Who has been sitting on my chair? Look, it’s broken!”

Upstairs, the mystery deepened. “Who has been sleeping in my bed?” Daddy Bear growled. “And in mine?” Mummy Bear queried. Baby Bear was astonished to find Goldilocks still in his bed. “Who has been sleeping in my bed? And look, she is still there!”

Goldilocks woke up to find the three bears staring at her. She screamed, jumped out of bed, and ran down the stairs and out of the house, never to be seen by the bears again. And the three bears were left to ponder the strange visit they had just experienced.
