How the Rabbit got his Ears

In a time when the world was still shaping its wonders, there lived a rabbit with the tiniest of ears. This rabbit, known for his love of mischief, decided one day to stir trouble among his friends with a trick that would soon change his life.

“Hop, hop,” chuckled Rabbit, “Today seems perfect for a little fun.” His first victim was Beaver, who was minding his own business until Rabbit approached. “Hello, Beaver! Did you know the sun won’t rise again?” Rabbit said, a twinkle of mischief in his eye.

Shocked, Beaver shared this alarming news with Squirrel, who then told Chipmunk, and so the rumor spread like wildfire to Skunk, Raccoon, and finally Bear. The forest was soon in an uproar, with every animal scrambling to prepare for eternal darkness.

But Kluskap, a figure of great importance who shaped the lands of North America, noticed the chaos. He questioned the animals, tracing the rumor back to its source. “The sun not rising again? Who would spread such a tale?” Kluskap wondered.

One by one, the animals revealed the chain of whispers until Beaver pointed out that it was Rabbit’s doing. Kluskap, with a wise smile, found Rabbit hiding, chuckling behind a bush.

In a swift move, Kluskap grabbed Rabbit by his ears, pulling him from his hiding spot. “Ouch!” Rabbit cried, feeling his ears stretch. “This is to remind you never to lie again,” Kluskap said, transforming Rabbit’s short ears into long ones.

And that’s how Rabbit got his long ears, a constant reminder of the day his mischief went too far, teaching him a valuable lesson about honesty. From then on, Rabbit’s elongated ears would not only remind him of his past mistakes but also serve as a tale for all the creatures in the forest about the importance of truth.
