The Easter Story

Written by:

Once upon a time, there was a man named Jesus who did many amazing things and taught people about love and kindness. He had close friends, called disciples, who followed him and learned from him.

One special evening, Jesus and his friends were having a big dinner to celebrate a special holiday called Passover. Before they ate, Jesus did something surprising. He washed his friends’ feet, telling them, “No one is more important than anyone else. I’m doing this to show you how to care for each other.”

During dinner, Jesus shared some sad news. He said that one of his friends would betray him, which means to turn against him. Everyone was shocked, especially when Jesus gave a piece of bread to his friend Judas, who then left quickly.

Jesus also shared bread and wine with his friends, asking them to remember him by doing this special meal together. He knew he wouldn’t be with them much longer.

Later that night, they went to a garden. Jesus told his friends that tough times were coming, and they might feel scared and run away. Even though his friend Peter promised to stay by him, Jesus knew Peter would be so scared that he’d pretend he didn’t know Jesus, not just once, but three times.

Suddenly, soldiers came to take Jesus away because some people didn’t like what he was teaching. Judas was with them, showing them who Jesus was by giving him a kiss on the cheek.

Peter followed from a distance and saw Jesus being taken to a big, fancy building where important leaders were. Outside, people recognized Peter as one of Jesus’s friends, but Peter was so scared, he said he didn’t know Jesus, just as Jesus had said he would.

Inside, Jesus was asked if he was the son of God, and he said yes. This made the leaders very angry, and they decided Jesus had to be punished.

The next morning, a man named Pontius Pilate, who was in charge of the city, tried to let Jesus go because he didn’t think Jesus had done anything wrong. But the crowd outside yelled for Jesus to be punished.

So, sadly, Jesus was taken to a hill and put on a cross. Even in such pain, Jesus asked for forgiveness for those who were hurting him.

After Jesus passed away, the earth shook, and everyone was very scared and started to think that maybe Jesus was who he said he was.

His friends took care of his body and placed it in a special garden. A few days later, Mary Magdalene, one of Jesus’s friends, went to visit but found that his body was gone! She was so sad and didn’t understand what had happened.

Then, something wonderful happened. Jesus appeared to Mary, alive! He asked her to tell everyone that he was alive and would always be with them in spirit.

And so, Mary went to tell the good news to everyone, and Jesus’s message of love and kindness continued to spread all over the world. This special story is remembered every Easter, reminding us of hope, love, and new beginnings.
