The Rabbit and the Elephant

In a lush jungle filled with adventure and whispers of the wind, there lived an elephant who was preparing for a journey to see her family across the river. She had gathered honey to feed her family for a month, carefully placing the honey pots in bags on her back.

As she made her way, a clever rabbit hopped up to her. “Hello, Elephant! Could you help me cross the river? I can’t swim,” the rabbit asked with a twinkle in her eye.

“Of course, Rabbit. Hop on my back, and I’ll carry you across,” replied the elephant, always eager to help a friend.

Once they were crossing the river, the rabbit’s nose twitched. She smelled something sweet. Curiosity got the best of her, and she peeked inside one of the bags. Discovering the honey, she couldn’t resist and ate it all. Realizing her mistake, she quickly thought of a plan to avoid the elephant’s anger.

“Elephant, could you pass me a stone? I’m bored and want to play with it,” the rabbit said. The elephant obliged, and the rabbit replaced the honey with the stone. She did the same with the second bag after gobbling up all the honey.

When they reached the other side, the rabbit thanked the elephant and quickly hopped away. The elephant, upon discovering the stones instead of her honey, was furious and demanded the rabbit to come back. In her anger, she accidentally broke off the rabbit’s tail.

The rabbit, cunning as ever, ran to her friends and convinced them all to rip off their tails so the elephant couldn’t recognize her. When the elephant arrived, asking for a rabbit without a tail, she found all the rabbits tailless and couldn’t find the one who stole her honey.

The rabbit, hiding behind a tree, chuckled at her cleverness, having outsmarted the elephant. From that day on, the elephant never helped another rabbit, and all the rabbits in the jungle remained tailless, a reminder of the clever rabbit’s trick.
