The Stork, the Goose, and the Hawk

The Stork, the Goose, and the Hawk

Once upon a time, in a beautiful, wide-open meadow near a sparkling river, there lived three birds: Stella the Stork, Gabby the Goose, and Henry the Hawk. They were good friends, even though they were very different from each other.

Stella was tall and graceful, with long legs and a sharp beak. She loved to wade in the shallow waters of the river, searching for fish. Gabby was a plump, cheerful goose with soft, white feathers. She spent her days swimming in the river and nibbling on plants. Henry, on the other hand, was a strong and powerful bird with sharp eyes and fast wings. He soared high above the meadow, always on the lookout for food.

One day, as the three friends were gathered near the river, they began to talk about their strengths and talents.

“I’m so lucky to be tall,” said Stella. “I can reach deep into the water to catch fish.”

“I’m lucky too,” said Gabby. “My soft feathers keep me warm, and I’m great at swimming.”

Henry puffed out his chest. “And I’m lucky because I can fly faster than anyone else in the sky. I can see everything from up high and catch anything I want.”

The three friends smiled, feeling proud of their unique abilities. But as they continued talking, a sly Fox crept out from the bushes, unnoticed by the birds. The Fox had been listening to their conversation and saw an opportunity to cause trouble.

The Fox called out to them, “Oh, Stella, Gabby, and Henry, it’s so wonderful to see such talented birds! But have you ever thought about who is the best among you?”

The birds looked at each other, suddenly unsure. The Fox continued, “Why don’t you have a competition to see who is truly the best?”

The birds, curious and eager to prove themselves, agreed to the Fox’s suggestion. “What kind of competition?” Stella asked.

The Fox grinned mischievously. “How about a race? Stella can wade through the water, Gabby can swim, and Henry can fly. Whoever reaches the big oak tree on the other side of the meadow first will be the winner!”

The birds agreed, and the race began. Stella waded swiftly through the shallow water, her long legs splashing as she moved. Gabby paddled as fast as she could, her webbed feet pushing her forward. Meanwhile, Henry soared high above, his sharp eyes fixed on the oak tree in the distance.

But as they raced, something surprising happened. Stella got caught in some thick reeds and couldn’t move quickly. Gabby was slowed down by strong currents in the river. And Henry, though fast, couldn’t see the oak tree clearly through the thick clouds that had suddenly rolled in.

Realizing they were struggling, the three friends called out to each other for help. Stella used her long beak to free herself from the reeds, Gabby swam close to Stella to help her out of the water, and Henry flew lower to guide them both through the meadow.

Together, they finally reached the oak tree, tired but happy. The Fox, who had been watching, was disappointed that his plan to cause trouble had failed.

Stella, Gabby, and Henry realized that it wasn’t about who was the best; it was about how they could help each other and work together.

“We’re all winners,” Stella said with a smile.

“Because we’re friends,” Gabby added.

“And together, we can do anything,” Henry finished.

From that day on, the three friends continued to support each other, knowing that their differences made them stronger as a team.

The End.
