The Cicada and the Fox

The Cicada and the Fox

Once upon a time, in a quiet forest filled with tall trees and blooming flowers, there lived a little Cicada named Cici. Cici was known for her cheerful singing, which she loved to do from the top of the tallest tree. Her songs were so beautiful that they made the whole forest feel alive.

One sunny day, while Cici was singing her favorite tune, a clever Fox named Felix was walking through the forest. Felix had been searching for something tasty to eat, and when he heard Cici’s sweet song, he stopped and listened.

“That Cicada sounds delicious,” Felix thought to himself. “But how can I catch her? She’s all the way up in that tree, and I can’t climb it.”

Felix sat down at the base of the tree and called up to Cici. “Hello, little Cicada! Your singing is so beautiful. I wish I could see you up close. Why don’t you come down and sing for me here on the ground?”

But Cici was smart and knew that Foxes were tricky creatures. She looked down at Felix and replied, “Thank you, Mr. Fox, but I’m quite comfortable up here. I think I’ll stay in my tree and sing from here.”

Felix frowned, realizing that his plan wasn’t working. He needed another idea to get Cici down. After thinking for a moment, he had a clever thought.

“Cici,” Felix called out again, “did you know that the most beautiful singers also have the shiniest wings? If you come down, I can help you polish your wings so they’ll sparkle even more in the sunlight!”

Cici giggled at the Fox’s trick. She knew her wings were already shiny enough. “That’s very kind of you, Mr. Fox,” she answered, “but I think my wings are shiny enough without any polishing.”

Felix was disappointed but didn’t give up. He tried one last trick. “Cici, I just found the most delicious berries on the ground! They are so sweet and juicy. Why don’t you come down and have some?”

But Cici wasn’t fooled. “Thank you for the offer, Mr. Fox, but I have plenty to eat up here. I think I’ll stay right where I am.”

Finally, Felix realized that he wouldn’t be able to trick the clever Cicada. He sighed and walked away, his stomach still empty.

Cici watched the Fox leave and smiled. “It’s always good to be careful,” she thought to herself. “And it’s always good to stay safe in my tree.”

And so, Cici continued to sing her beautiful songs from the top of the tallest tree, bringing joy to the forest and keeping herself safe from danger.
