The Pig and Sheep

The Pig and the Sheep

Once upon a time, in a peaceful meadow, a sheep grazed contentedly alongside her flock. Nearby, in a cozy pen, a pig wallowed happily in the mud. Though they lived close to each other, the sheep and the pig rarely spoke, as they had little in common.

One sunny morning, the farmer approached the pen and opened its gate. To the pig’s horror, he was grabbed by the farmer and carried off, squealing and struggling all the way. The sheep watched the commotion with wide eyes.

“Why are you making such a fuss?” called the sheep. “The farmer handles us all the time! He shears our wool and even carries the lambs now and then. It doesn’t hurt a bit.”

The pig, still squealing, twisted his head to shout back, “That’s easy for you to say! When he comes for you, it’s only your wool he wants. But when he comes for me, it’s my life he takes!”

The farmer disappeared into the barn with the pig, leaving the sheep to ponder the pig’s words.

Moral:

It’s easy to dismiss another’s fear or pain when you’re not the one in danger.
